Wonderful Dogs that make loving pets and companions
If you are interested in adopting a Career Change Dog from Dogs for the Deaf, please complete the Career Change Dog Application, and our staff will contact you when we have a dog that might be right for you. Our primary concern is to find the most suitable 'match' for both the dog and the new owner.
For a variety of reasons, some of the dogs we rescue from shelters just aren't cut out for our other programs, but they'd love to be somebody's faithful companion.
When a dog isn't able to complete one of our other programs, he or she becomes a Career Change Dog, ready to be adopted to a responsible, caring home.
Each of these dogs has been screened for temperament, provided medical care, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and put on a high quality, nutritious diet. We do not charge for our Career Change Dog adoptions, but we gladly take donations.
Because Dogs for the Deaf is located in Southern Oregon, Career Change Dogs are usually adopted to homes within driving distance of our facility. If you live outside the area, we encourage you to visit your local shelter when looking for a dog to add to your family.
SEELEY
Seeley is a young, smart, terrier cross with an independent streak. She needs rules and positive reinforcement. Seeley is not suited to a household with young children and does not get along with other dogs. She may do best as the only pet in the home. Although she is not a big cuddler she has a ton of personality and is very entertaining.
BUGSY
This 8 pound little guy is about 7 years old. When the shelter picked up this stray he had an eye injury, which required that the eye be removed. He is quite the character, loves to chase his ball, will pull you along on walks, and is a good climber. He would do best with an active retired person who has time to love on him. Bugsy is a lap dog, but he is so happy on his walks around the property fetching toys and playing tug of war.
RUMOR
This 7 1/2 year old girl came back to us when her owner could no longer care for her. She would make an attentive only pet. She is used to being with adults and will make a loyal companion. Rumor loves to play fetch and will happily bring the ball back to you. A quiet home with a fenced yard would be right up her alley. She is good on-leash and loves her walks.
