A very special part of this year’s DFD Dog Walk was the announcement of the winner of the Poker Run. The participant who gathered the very best poker hand was Linda from 3RRescue in northern California. Linda and her husband Jack have been supporters of DFD for many years and decided to join us this year for our annual fund raiser in Jacksonville, Oregon. They traveled from California, along with their two dogs, Maggie and Atom, and two of their foster dogs, Astro and Tori, to participate in the Dog Walk.
When her name was announced, Linda was overcome with emotion and excitement. What made this so very special is that Linda and Jack have a small dog rescue in Winters, California, and they are going to use their $1,000 winnings to help their organization rescue and find homes for some additional dogs. “I was shocked, dazed… speechless,” said Linda about her Poker Walk win. “You have no idea how much this means to a young, start-up group like ours.”
3R’s mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home animals in need of a second chance. The rescued dogs are provided medical care, quality nutrition and the opportunity to once again relax and socialize in a home environment, enabling them to be ‘good citizens’ in their new life. You can learn more about this fantastic organization at 3RRescue.org.
The $1,000 grand prize was generously donated by Rogue Valley Pet. Special thanks to them and congratulations to Linda, Jack, and 3RRescue.
