Meet our newest team...

Nancy and little Rexi (right) work on a puzzle together

We're so excited to announce our newest placement! In early November, Hearing Dog Rexanne (Rexi for short) was placed with Nancy T. of Wisconsin. What a great new partnership!

Here are a few highlights from Rexi's placement, shared with us by DFD's Apprentice Program Instructor, Emily:

• Nancy is happy to have not only have the sound awareness but also the companionship.
• Rexi and Nancy enjoyed working on puzzles together, going for walks around the property, and snuggle time on the couch.
• Nancy was impressed with Rexi’s training. Emily says, "When we practiced recalls and I first showed her how Rexi came when called, Nancy commented, 'I’ve never had a dog that’s done that before.'"
• Nancy enjoyed showing Rexi off to her friends around the facility where she lives. A staff member commented that Rexi, in addition to helping Nancy, will bring joy to many residents just by being there.

We couldn't agree more with that last comment! Rexi brought joy to many staff members at DFD while she was in training and we are happy that she will continue to do so in her new career as a Hearing Dog.
