    Judy Springborn's Apple Pie would put others to shame, and not because of some top-secret recipe. Apple Pie is actually a 6-pound Chihuahua-mix that helps the 72-year-old deaf Glendale resident with daily living, following five months of training in Oregon after being saved from being euthanized at an animal shelter in Fresno.

We've outgrown our name!

Growth is good and, thanks to all of you, we've been growing! But, we've outgrown our name. So we're brainstorming with ALL of our closest friends!

Join us in creating...

  • a new name... or
  • a new image... or
  • a new D.B.A. ("Doing Business As")... or
  • a BRILLIANT new concept

... for our organization - one that fully explains what we do here and what our specially trained dogs do for people.  A name that fits.

Think OUTSIDE of the box. THROW AWAY the box! We want to hear every idea. After all, isn't that what brainstorming is about?

We do more than train Hearing Dogs. We also train Autism Assistance Dogs and Program Assistance Dogs. Our dogs help people with a variety of challenges and provide people with freedom, security, and independence... and we want our name to reflect that.

And, don't forget, all of this starts with RESCUING dogs. All of our dogs come from animal shelters in Oregon, Washington, and California.

If you have an idea, or ideas, for a new name that represents what we do here at DFD, please submit them to info@dogsforthedeaf.org. YOU could be the one to come up with our new name that will be unveiled at our star-studded 35th Anniversary party in Los Angeles on August 4, 2012!
