Do you love dogs and want to spend your time making a difference in their lives? Consider volunteering at Dogs for the Deaf! We have a number of volunteer opportunities available, depending upon your interests, the amount of time you'd like to spend, and where you live.
Some of our dogs find kennel life stressful; that's where our Foster Friends come in! Foster Friends provide a home and lots of love to a dog in training. This is a great opportunity if you live close to the DFD facility.
Dogs for the Deaf relies on volunteer interviewers throughout the United States and Canada to interview potential clients who have applied to become recipients of our special dogs. This is an ideal opportunity for people who'd love to volunteer but do not live close to the DFD facility.
Spend time with dogs in training at the DFD facility in Central Point, Oregon. Volunteers supervise dogs' playtime, take dogs for walks, and provide one-on-one cuddle time.
Filing, packing and paperwork are some of the ways our office volunteers help keep the office running smoothly.
Perfect for people who are outgoing and comfortable speaking in public, conducting tours of the DFD facility is a terrific way to help Dogs for the Deaf educate the public about our special work.
DFD Ambassadors serve as representatives of DFD in their local areas. They give presentations to a variety of groups in their areas, telling them about our special work. DFD Ambassadors are entrusted with the responsibility of representing DFD in a professional manner and raising the awareness of DFD's mission and programs. DFD Ambassadors must be very comfortable with public speaking. If you apply and are selected, we will provide you with a DVD to show, promotional information to hand out, and a presentation format. If you are interested in becoming a DFD Ambassador, please contact us for an application.
If you believe in the mission of Dogs for the Deaf, you could tell your church group, civic club, association, neighbors, or group of friends about our special work and encourage them to get involved. We will send you a video/DVD to show at club meetings and/or send you copies of our newsletter to distribute to people in your area.
