Volunteer opportunities where YOU live! We are seeking volunteers that would like to help promote Dogs for the Deaf through fund-raising events, interviews, promotions, festivals, and social media.
Ambassadors serve as representatives of Dogs for the Deaf in their local area and or region. They give presentations to a variety of groups telling them about our special work. Ambassadors are entrusted with the responsibility of representing Dogs for the Deaf in a professional manner and raising the awareness of our mission and programs.
Ambassadors also have the unique opportunity to conduct applicant interviews. This prospect allows Dogs for the Deaf’s Ambassadors to meet with prospective clients on a personal level. As an Ambassador Interviewer, you will perform and record the interview for Dogs for the Deaf. Functioning in this capacity for the organization allows you to meet the people we serve and save the organization a considerable amount of funds. On average a interview carried out by an Ambassador saves Dogs for the Deaf 65% over a staff performed interview.
- Tabling a booth and/or presenting at a local school, community event, or conference
- Coordinating through Dogs for the Deaf’s Client Services, an in-house interview with a prospective client
- Promoting Dogs for the Deaf with your local community group (Lions, Good Sam Clubs, Kiwanis, Rotary, 4-H Club)
- Organizing a local fundraising event, to benefit Dogs for the Deaf

Application & Screening Process
All of our Ambassadors fill out an application and then go through a screening process that includes a background check. Once approved, each new Ambassador is sent a detailed manual with information about Dogs for the Deaf, frequently asked questions, a DVD and a PowerPoint presentation to show (if they choose to), and a supply of materials to hand out. We want our Ambassadors prepared so they can do the best possible job of representing Dogs for the Deaf.
